Woodside Equine Clinic offers a variety of imaging modalities to properly diagnose your horse. Our computed radiography (CR) system allows us to take x-rays and then process them onto a computer screen. This allows a better image than traditional x-rays as well as the ability to manipulate those images to more easily visualize potential lesions. All of Woodside’s ambulatory vehicles are equipped with portable x-ray machines which have the capability to image the head and limbs. A more powerful machine resides at the clinic, where we are able to take radiographs of the neck, chest and even, size of horse permitting, images of the back.
Multiple ultrasounds are at the disposal of Woodside’s clinicians as well. Ultra-sound allows us to look at soft tissues and bony surfaces. It is utilized to diagnose suspensory injuries, inject joints, perform abdominal exams, as well as a multitude of other uses. We can even do cardiac exams!
Endoscopy is also available at Woodside Equine Clinic. This diagnostic tool uses a small camera connected to a monitor so we can instantly visualize some of the inner aspects of your horse. We currently have a 1 meter and a 3 meter endoscope. With these, we can examine your horse for respiratory problems such as laryngeal hemiplagia (“Roaring”) and gastric disorders such as ulcers.
Woodside Equine strives to offer a variety of up to date technologies in the imaging world as well as the knowledge of its use. We hope you can picture yourself here!
