Ocular disorders are a very common problem in horses. What may look like a slightly swollen eye one day, can quickly turn into a disaster the next. Under the direction of Dr. DeWitt, Woodside offers extensive services to maintain and treat problems that may arise with your horse’s vision. For simple conditions, such as superficial corneal ulcers, we can thoroughly examine the eye on an outpatient basis or at the farm. More serious conditions, such as deep ulcers or uveitis, may require the placement of a sub-palpebral lavage system for more aggressive therapies.
We also have the added benefit of working with Dr. Michael Blair, DVM, DACVO (Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists) of Animal Eye Care of Richmond. Dr.Blair enables Woodside Equine Clinic to bring the most advanced ophthalmology care to your horse, including ophthalmic surgery. If you are interested in contacting Dr. Blair to resolve your horse's eye issues, please call his office directly at (804) 355-5594. They will work with you in scheduling an appointment to meet him here at Woodside Equine Clinic. |
