| Dr. Shane DeWitt graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward in Charlottetown, PE in 2000. He then went into private practice in southeastern Pennsylvania prior to pursuing residency training in equine internal medicine at Tufts’ University in North Grafton, MA. Upon completion of his training and becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, he joined the faculty at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University. Missing the East Coast and the ocean, he decided to return to private practice and relocated to VA in the summer of 2008 to join the staff at Woodside.
Although he is interested in all aspects of internal medicine and the performance horse, Dr. DeWitt’s main areas of interest include neonatology and critical care, respiratory disease and diagnostic ultrasonography.
Dr. DeWitt lives in Mechanicsville, VA with his wife (a veterinary clinical pathologist) and their 3 children. When there is any free time outside of running the kids to multiple events, he enjoys the outdoors and cooking. |
